John's 30+ year communications career includes a tour of duty in South  Vietnam as a public affairs officer for the U.S. Army, experience as both writer and editor for the Associated Press and leadership in the health care and energy industries.  He spent four years as director of information for TVA and was executive vice president of another Nashville public relations agency before joining in the founding of DVL in 1980. John’s strengths are in overall strategic counseling, issues and crisis management and media skills training.  Boards of Directors of Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Goodwill Industries, Pencil Foundation and Nashville Songwriters Foundation.  Past Chair of Goodwill and Nashville Downtown Partnership, past Nashville Chamber of Commerce executive committee.  BS Journalism, University  of Tennessee, 1966.
